Сhristmas is coming!
Hi there. I am worried a little bit because I don`t understand why Russians don`t celebrate Christmas. How is it possible? So wonderful holiday. Our Russian Christmas is on January 7th but people don`t celebrate it. They just drink-and it`s all what they do. But what about decoration, candles, Christmas punch eventually?
I love Christmas. Of course I love New Year too but Christmas for me is like hot chocolate on ice-cream cake. Like warm cookies from the oven. Like the knitted socks embroidered by deers. Like the lit fireplace in wooden house in the forest. You understand?
I compare Christmas to cozy things. Love and hope. Pleasure which is not visible to eyes. Christmas is something warm, lovely, gentle and tender. New Year is hot, noisy, overflowed with loud fun and madness. Christmas is silent and sweet time that needs to be spent only with closest people. And in the most suitable situation.

I am passing exams and absolutely have no time for Christmas books and movies. The last exam will be tomorrow, finally I`ll have the free time. I grew up on movies about Christmas and they take a special place into my heart.
I dream to celebrate Christmas not in Russia and in some country where people really celebrate it. Yesterday I watched photos from Prague, decorated by holidays and I was almost crying. Amazing beauty, fires and multi-colored houses! Prague is very beautiful in summer but in New Year`s Eve time it becomes even more fantastic than usually.

Christmas is very magical holiday. It changes people to the best side. Everybody congratulates each other, wanna look beautiful, dress up, decorate the houses, cook various tasty dishes, don`t swear and don`t argue. For some time idyll settles in families which can be seen unless at cinema. Why does this holiday pull all people together? I don`t believe that everybody celebrates Christmas only because of God (allegedly Jesus's birth). Perhaps people celebrate this holiday for another reason. An occasion to gather and and not to quarrel... To love each other... To forgive...
I want to have fun in New Year, dancing to exhaustion and to blow the crackers up. For Christmas there is a wish for the penetrating heat and domestic surroundings. These two holidays are so similar (gifts, decorated fir-trees, Santa Claus, lots of food), but at the same time these holidays are so different. So good that we have these two holidays, winter would be absolutely intolerable without them.
And never mind that Christmas isn`t celebrated in Russia: I`ll make hot mulled wine anyway, will bake cookies and will enjoy this wonderful holiday alone ;)
